Presenter: Mellody Descoteaux, PMP, MT(ASCP) Since 1945, INBC has been committed to serving patients, hospitals and donors in the Inland Northwest with state-of-the-art technology and customer service that is second to none. The blood services industry continues to experience a high rate of change under constraints of regulatory requirements at the federal, state and professional level. Many blood services organizations are embracing Project Management as the tool to keep pace with change while meeting quality and regulatory requirements. This presentation will discuss the state of the blood services industry in implementing formal Project Management offices, staff and processes. Case studies from several blood centers will be discussed as well as the current efforts of INBC. Mellody has been on staff at INBC for 30 years serving in a variety of roles; starting as a Medical Technologist in Laboratory Services to Quality Assurance Director and now to Project Manager. Her expertise and experience has proven beneficial in managing the large number of projects being implemented at INBC.
